Rachel Blackwood knows how to write a twist that genuinely catches you off guard. I thought I had it figured out by chapter 12—I was SO wrong. The small-town atmosphere is perfectly claustrophobic, and the podcast framing device adds a fresh layer to the cold case thriller genre. My only tiny complaint is that the ending felt slightly rushed, but the journey there was absolutely gripping.
